At First Glance: Hyde, Jekyll and Me

Hey guys, so I recently just started watching this new SBS drama called Hyde, Jekyll and Me. Hyde, Jekyll and Me is Hyun Bin's very first drama after Secret Garden prior to being released from the military services. So if you guys are huge fans of Hyun Bin like me, be sure to catch Hyun Bin in his latest drama!! :) I am currently on the 4th episode of this 20 episodes romantic comedy themed drama, and I have to say I am really enjoying this drama so far! It finally feels like I have found yet another great drama this year! However, as this drama is currently airing in Korea, this means that I have to wait for 2 new episodes each week after the 6th episode! Thus, I've decided to share with you guys a few thoughts on the drama so far! :)

Hyde, Jekyll and Me is a 20 episodes SBS drama starring Hyun Bin, Han Ji Min and Sung Joon. Hyde, Jekyll and Me is about Goo Seo Jin, portrayed by actor Hyun Bin, who has a Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), also commonly known as multiple personality disorder. Goo Seo Jin is the director of Wonderland, a huge amusement park in Seoul. Seo Jin is a very cold, strict and heartless person. On the other hand, his other personality is a person named Robin, who is created out of Seo Jin's guilty conscience. Robin is a kind and caring person who protects and saves people. Jang Ha Na, portrayed by actress Han Jin Min is the head of the circus at Wonderland. Seo Jin intends to terminate the circus contract at Wonderland, but is prevented by Jang Ha Na who tries to stop the termination of the contract. On the other hand, Seo Jin has been trying and working very hard to prevent his other personality, Robin to appear again for the past five years. Every time Robin makes his appearance, Seo Jin has no memory as Robin and is unable to recall the memory of what he did or who he met with. The story starts to unfold as Jang Ha Na and Goo Seo Jin falls in love despite his multiple personality disorder.

Thoughts on the drama so far......

This is the very first Hyun Bin drama after Secret Garden prior to being discharged from the military services back in 2013. I really enjoyed watching Secret Garden as well back in 2010, where he acted alongside actress Ha Ji Won. I became a fan of Hyun Bin's acting after Secret Garden. As for this drama, thumbs up to the acting of Hyun Bin as the director of Wonderland who has a multiple personality disorder in this drama! Hyun Bin has managed to pulled off his role as both Goo Seo Jin and Robin perfectly. The first episode of the drama made quite an impression and I would say that a good beginning could mean that this will turn out a great drama! Overall so far,  the theme and plot of the drama is interesting and different from other dramas. The fact that the main character, Goo Seo Jin, suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, and is portrayed by actor Hyun Bin makes this drama one to anticipate and look forward to. As for the chemistry between Hyun Bin and Han Ji Min, their on-screen chemistry is notable so far as we're still in the early stages of the drama. But I have a feeling that the chemistry between these two will progress in the later episodes as the story develops. Another notable thing about this drama  is how the writer managed to portray how a rich heir, suffering from the disorder copes with his illness while communicating with his other self thru video recording in an interesting way. This is a really unique and extraordinary portrayal in Korean Drama history! And not to forget the drama OST! It has been quite a while since I found a drama with good soundtracks. I am currently enjoying listening to "Falling" by Park Bo Ram and "Because of You" by Baek Ji Young. All in all, I have a very good feeling that this drama would turn out to be a good one! So do look forward to the review of this drama soon guys! :)
