Currently Watching K-Dramas: 2025

Hey guys, it's 2025 and there's a huge lineup of K-dramas for this year!
For this post, I will be sharing some of the K-dramas that I am currently watching and my thoughts on them so far!

1. When the Stars Gossip

'When the Stars Gossip' is a 12-episodes sci-fi themed TvN drama starring Lee Min Ho, Gong Hyo Jin, Oh Jung Se, Heo Nam Joon and many more! This drama is about the love story between Gong Myung (portrayed by Lee Min Ho), a gynaecologist, and Eve (portrayed by Gong Hyo Jin), a female astronaut. At the request of his rich chaebol girlfriend, Go Eun's father's request, Gong Myung travels to outer space as a tourist for a few days to carry out a secret mission. At the space station, he meets Eve, who is the commander on her first mission and he unexpectedly falls in love with her during his time there. Meanwhile, Kang Kang Su (portrayed by Oh Jung Se) is a fruitfly scientist and also Go Eun's despicable ex-boyfriend. He is still in love with her and plans to disrupt Gong Myung's plan in order to get back together with her.

Thoughts on the drama so far...

After a long wait, Lee Min Ho is finally back with his latest drama! The theme of this drama is pretty unique as it is set in a space station in outer space. Although there is not much development in term of its storyline so far, the drama is still watchable and the acting of veteran stars including Lee Min Ho, Gong Hyo Jin and Oh Jung Se is great, though the chemistry between the main leads is not that great! I have also been enjoying watching the other side characters such as the twin sisters and the other two male astronauts. I am also anticipating how the writer would wrap up this drama as I am already halfway through the drama but the direction of the story seems abit unclear.

2. Love Scout

'Love Scout' (also known as 'My Perfect Secretary' in Korean) is a 12-episodes SBS romance drama starring Han Ji Min and Lee Joon Hyuk. This drama is about the office romance between the CEO of a headhunting company, Peoplez, Kang Ji Yun (portrayed by Han Ji Min) and her secretary, Yoo Eun Ho (portrayed by Lee Joon Hyuk), who used to work as a HR manager at a corporate company and is also a single father. Will romance bloom when the cold and successful CEO who is only good at her work, meets the kind-hearted and capable secertary?

Thoughts on the drama so far...

I've been really enjoying this drama out of the other dramas so far! The chemistry between Han Ji Min and Lee Joon Hyuk is suprisingly amazing and I've been enjoying the story. I watched Han Ji Min's previous drama, Behind Your Touch, and I was really impressed with her transformation into the cold and successful CEO Kang Ji Yun. I personally really like the headhunting company theme as it is quite refreshing and adds more substance to the drama overall. There has also been many heart-fluterring moments between the two main leads and I can't wait to see how their romance will blossom! The plot, chemistry and backstory has been really good so far and I am excited to see how the story will go!

3. Motel California

'Motel California' is a 12-episodes Disney+ drama starring Lee Se Young, Na In Woo and Choi Min Soo. The story is about Ji Gang Hui (portrayed by Lee Se Young) who grew up in a motel that her father runs in a small town. Since she was young, Gang Hui has been the talk of the town due to her mixed-raced heritage and she holds a grudge against the town and her estranged father (portrayed by Choi Min Soo). The only person who accepts her as she is, is her first love, Cheon Yeon Soo (portrayed by Na In Woo). After graduating high school, Gang Hui decides to move to Seoul, leaving Yeon Soo behind. 12 years later, they reunite again when Gang Hui returns. They both still have feelings for each other but never told one another, would they get a second chance at love?

Thoughts on the drama so far...

The first two episodes have been okay so far, but I am not too sure whether I would continue watching this drama. This drama gives off a melodrama vibe and the development of the story has been rather slow. It also has a rather cliche storyline about two friends who knew each other since they were young turn into lovers when they are older. But I guess I will still be sticking around for Lee Se Young and Na In Woo and see how it goes.

xoxo
