Currently watching K-dramas: Spring 2022

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've last shared an update on the latest dramas that I'm currently watching. For this special post, I'll be sharing the 3 ongoing K-dramas that I'm currently watching and some of my thoughts on the dramas so far! Be sure to check these K-dramas out as they are perfect to watch this Spring!

1. A Business Proposal 사내 맞선

What happens when a business proposal turns into a love story?

A Business Proposal is a 12-episodes SBS drama starring Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Se Jung, Seo Rin Ah, and Kim Min Kyu. The story is about your typical chaebol, Kang Tae Moo (Ahn Hyo Seop) who goes on a blind date with Shin Ha Ri (Kim Se Jung), a replacement who went instead of her best friend and ended up falling in love after being in a "fake" relationship. Kang Tae Moo is a chaebol and CEO of a food company while Shin Ha Ri is an ordinary employee who works as a food researcher at his company. They unexpectedly met at a blind date when Ha Ri went in place of her best friend, Yeong Seo (Seo Rin Ah) who was supposed to meet Tae Mo. However, their plan failed when Tae Mo became attracted to her and he proposed marriage on the very first day they met. Things became complicated when he found out that she was a replacement for the real Jin Yeong Seo. Tae Moo then asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend so that he could keep his grandfather, who is keen for his grandson to get married, happy. Fearing that she might lose her job if he finds out about her true identity, she lied that her name was Geum Hui, instead of Ha Ri. On the other hand, the real Yeong Seo unexpectedly met Sung Hoon (Kim Min Kyu), who is Tae Mo's secretary, who she fell in love with at first sight with him but she was coldly rejected by her advances due to the fake 'blind date' incident.

Thoughts so far..........
If you're looking for a fun and quirky romantic comedy, I would highly recommend watching this drama! I'm currently halfway through the drama on the 6th episode and I have to say that the drama hasn't been draggy or boring, but very entertaining and funny. Although there is a bunch of cliche moments, the writer did a great job at making the scenes hilarious yet relatable, without going too overboard.

2. Forecasting Love and Weather 기상청 사람들: 사내연애 잔혹사 편

Can you forecast love just like how you forecast the weather?

Just like the title of the drama, Forecasting Love and Weather is a 16-episodes JTBC drama starring Park Min Young and Song Kang, which tells the story about people working at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The drama started out with Jin Ha Kyung (Park Min Young) who is engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Han Ki Jun (Yoon Park) who also works at the KMA. After finding out that he was cheating on her, she decided to break off the wedding, and not long after, Ki Jun got married to a reporter, Yoo Jin (Yu Ra) whom he was seeing while still dating Ha Kyung. Ha Kyung then met Lee Shi Woo (Song Kang) when he was dispatched to the headquarters. Shi Woo was dating Yoo Jin when she was secretly seeing Ki Jun, and just like Ha Kyung, he became the victim in their relationship. After having a one-night stand, Ha Kyung and Shi Woo became attracted to each other and decided to embark on a secret office romance.

Thoughts so far..........
I'm currently on the 5th episode and the drama has been quite alright so far. Though I would say the pace of this drama is rather slow and there have not been much developments yet. What I did like about the drama is how the writer relates weather forecasting with the feelings and emotions we go through in our everyday life. I would recommend this drama if you're looking for something relaxing and meaningful.

3. Thirty-Nine 서른, 아홉

Would you be living your best life at 39?

The final drama that I'm currently watching is a story about three long-time best friends who are 39 years old this year. Thiry-nine is a 12-episodes JTBC drama starring Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, Kim Joo Hyun, and Yeon Woo Jin. As compared to the two other dramas I'm currently watching, this drama is a bit more mellow and bittersweet as you know from the get-go that one of the best friends would be leaving the other two forever. Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin) is 39 this year and she is working as a dermatologist at her own clinic in Gangnam, while her best friends, Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do) is an acting coach and Joo Hee (Kim Joo Hyun) who works as a cosmetic sales assistant at a departmental store.  20 years ago, the trio met due to an unexpected incident and they became inseparable best friends who have never been apart from each other since then. After undergoing a medical checkup together one day, Chan Young was diagnosed with 4th stage pancreas cancer, and she doesn't have much time left to live. What would happen to the three best friends who are going through a different journey on their last year before turning forty?

Thoughts so far..........
I think the best part about this drama is how it's quite realistic and relatable to real life. It depicts how life is a box of chocolate and you never know what's going to happen. Whether it's living life to the fullest knowing you don't have much time left like Chan Young, or deciding to take a leap of faith with a new love interest like Mi Joo, or finally meeting her ideal man like Joo Hee, this drama has been like a roller coaster ride and I'm excited to see how the drama will unfold.
