K-Drama Review: Marriage Not Dating

Hey guys, it has been a while since I last updated Kdrama Yeowang. I would like to share with you guys one of the dramas that I recently finished watching. I have to say that I really enjoyed watching this drama. This is one of the very few dramas that gets more fun and interesting as you go on with the episodes without feeling draggy. I am definitely going to miss watching this drama and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this drama! :)

Marriage Not Dating 연애 말고 결혼 is a 16 episodes TvN drama starring Han Groo, Yeon Woo Jin, Han Sun Hwa, and 2am's Jung Jin Woon. I have never really watched Han Groo's drama before but I know a few of her dramas which includes Can We Get Married? and One Warm Word. This drama is the very first leading role for actress Han Groo. And I have to say that she nailed her role as Joo Jang Mi perfectly for this drama. As for actor Yeon Woo Jin, I have seen him in the drama Ojakyo brothers where he portrayed the youngest brother in the drama. However, after finishing this drama, Yeon Woo Jin showed off his charismatic acting in portraying the role of Gong Gi Tae. Overall, I became a fan of both Han Groo and Yeon Woo Jin after watching this drama! :)

Marriage Not Dating 연애 말고 결혼 is about Gong Gi Tae, a plastic surgeon portrayed by actor Yeon Woo Jin, who does not believe in marriage and is afraid of getting tied down. His ultimate goal in life is to live alone by himself for the rest of his life. On the other hand, Joo Jang Mi, portrayed by actress Han Groo, is someone who believes in the happily ever after fantasy about marriage and is desperate to get married.

The drama starts off with Joo Jang Mi who is preparing to propose to her boyfriend, Hoon Dong in a hotel room. Hoon Dong is actually Gong Gi Tae's bestfriend. However, Hoon Dong has no intention of getting married to Jang Mi. After figuring out that Jang Mi was going to propose to him,  he called Gi Tae for help to get him out of this mess. At the end, Gi Tae who was having a blind date at the same hotel decided to help Hoon Dong escape from the hotel room.  Gi Tae managed to get Hoon Dong out of the hotel room before Jang Mi proposes to him. After that incident, Jang Mi wasn't able to contact Hoon Dong for a few weeks.

After several encounter with Jang Mi, Gi Tae asked for Jang Mi's help to pretend to be his fiance. The reason Gi Tae choose Jang Mi was because he knew that Jang Mi was the type of girl that his mother would not have accepted as her daughter-in-law. However, Gi Tae's dysfunctional family slowly warms up to Jang Mi and they start to accept her as their family's daughter-in-law unknowingly. As they kept going on with the fake dating scheme to try to get Gi Tae's family to allow him to remain a bachelor, both Gi Tae and Jang Mi began to understand each other's past and family problems better. Unknowingly, Jang Mi and Gi Tae found themselves very compatible with each other and they began to fall in love with each other.

PROS:

1. The chemistry between Yeon Woo Jin and Han Groo is unexpectedly amazing! When I first saw the preview of this drama, I never expected their chemistry to be so superb! I would say that their chemistry is what made this drama more fun and exciting to watch.

2. The acting of both Yeon Woo Jin and Han Groo in this drama is really great. Han Groo portrayed her role as Joo Jang Mi really well and two thumbs up to her acting skills! :D
As for Yeon Woo Jin, this is the first drama where he does not act so serious. It was really fun to watch a totally different side of Yeon Woo Jin. He managed to portray the character of Gi Tae in a very comical yet charismatic way.

3. The drama is just really fun to watch. It's really funny to watch both Yeon Woo Jin and Han Groo in this comedy themed drama. Even though the episodes can be very comical at times, what I liked about this drama was that it is very realistic. It teaches us important values and lessons in life that actually happens in our daily lives. You basically get the best of both worlds from this drama by getting to enjoy the drama and learn important life lessons about dating, marriage and life!

4. The plot of this drama is really amazing. There never was once an episode that was draggy in this drama. The flow of the drama was also consistent. What I like about each episodes is that each episodes begin with the ending of the episode and they refresh back to the chain of events that led to the ending. It makes you anticipate what's going to happen next in the drama. And last but not least, this drama is really unexpected. You can never expect what's going to happen in each episode.

4. The ost in this drama is just daebak!! I am a fan of most K drama ost but this drama ost is really one of the best soundtrack that I have heard so far. You won't get bored of listening to the ost and the songs really suit the scenes in the drama. The whole track list for this drama ost is really good! :)

CONS:

1. I would say that one of glitches in this drama would be the development of the character of the second leads. For example, the character of Han Yeo Reum in this drama was very brief. They showed his painful childhood of being abandoned by his mother when he was younger in one of the earlier episodes, however the drama did not go into more details about his character.
