Ongoing Drama : You're All Surrounded

Hey guys, it has been a while since I updated my blog. I would like to share with you guys the drama that I am currently watching. I just started watching the drama You're all Surrounded 너희들은 포위됐다 and I would like to give a brief introduction on this drama.

You're all Surrounded 너희들은 포위됐다 is a 20-episodes SBS drama starring Cha Seung Won, Lee Seung Gi and Go Ara. The drama is about four rookies detectives who are appointed to the Gangnam Police Station and they are rookies working under Detective Seo Pan Suk, portrayed by actor Cha Seung Won. Detective Seo Pan Suk plays a cold and arrogant but a capable and experienced senior detective at the Gangnam Police Station who completes his job except for a case that happened 11 years ago.

Eun Dae Gu, portrayed by actor Lee Seung Gi is one of the rookies at the Gangnam Police Station. His original name was Kim Ji Yong, but he used the name Eun Dae Gu after being sent to the orphanage. Eun Dae Gu is a cold person who only has one goal, which is to find the murderer of his mother 11 years ago.

Oh Soo Sun, on the other hand, is portrayed by actress Go Ara. Oh Soo Sun is a cheerful and quirky only female rookie detective out of the four rookies detectives at the Gangnam Police Station. The other two rookie detectives are Park Tae Il  portrayed by actor Ahn Jae Hyeon and Ji Kook portrayed by actor Park Jung Min. Park Tae Il plays a next door flower-boy rookie detective while Ji Kook plays a funny but serious rookie detective.

The drama starts off with the main protagonist, Kim Ji Yong, who is living with his single mother who is a nurse at a small town. Ji Yong does not know who his father is and the identity of his father remains a mystery in the drama. Ji Yong's mother is the only witness for a case of the murder of a high school student and is asked by Detective Seo to testify as a witness. However, she is threatened and warned by two men who came looking for her one night at her house.

The next day, she decided to testify as a witness but was unfortunately stabbed by a man at her house. The killer was a man wearing black boots and a black cap. Ji Yong came back home and found his mother stabbed and is lying on the floor. He was going to call for help when he realised that someone came into the house again. Ji Yong hid under the bed while his mother tried to save him from being seen by the killer, and as a result she got strangled by the killer and she died.

From then on, Ji Yong put the blame on Detective Seo who asked his mother to testify as a witness for the case. Ji Yong was also chased by the killer at his school the night after his mother's death b but he managed to escaped. Detective Seo was supposed to pick him up and was informed by Ji Yong about the pendant that was related to the killer. However, the killer had the pendant and this made Ji Yong more sure that Detective Seo was involved in the case.

11 years later, Kim Ji Yong is now Eun Dae Gu, and is one of the rookie detective at the Gangnam Police Station.  He is working under Detective Seo and he recognises him and still blames him for the death of his mother 11 years ago. He acts cool and show his hatred towards Detective Seo while working under him as a rookie detective.

Dae Gu meets Oh Soo Sun who is his fellow colleague at the Gangnam Police Station. He knew Soo Sun since she was in highschool back at the small town 11 years ago but Soo Sun does not know that Dae Gu is actually the middle school boy Kim Ji Yong that she knew from 11 years ago.

The four rookie detectives then work together under Detective Seo while they solve different cases each day. They faced some troubles and cause problems as a result of being rookies, but they are on their way to becoming great detectives at the Gangnam Police Station.

And Dae Gu's main goal  is to find the murderer of his mother from 11 years ago. The mystery of the case from 11 years ago begin to unfold and the truth is slowly being revealed to Dae Gu as he works as a rookie detective.

Thoughts on the drama:

I just finished watching the latest episode aired in Korea, which is episode 12. And I have to say that the flow of the drama is satisfactory thus far. It doesn't seem too draggy and the drama gets more and more interesting and intense as the episodes go by. More and more clues about the case is being presented one at a time, which makes the drama interesting. The plot of the drama is well-written, with bits of mystery here and there. The acting of the actors and actress in this drama is great which makes the drama fun to watch. And last but not least, the unique characters which are portrayed in the drama and the main mystery about what happened 11 years ago is what makes the drama worth watching!

I will keep you guys updated with a review when I finish watching this drama! :)
